Recently, the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government held a press conference to introduce the progress of Shandong in building a national demonstration province integrating medical care and elderly care.

Over the past five years, Shandong has dynamically implemented more than 430 key health projects in medical care and elderly care, of which more than 200 are for elderly care. Meanwhile, Shandong has organized the implementation of R&D and promotion projects for new TCM products to commercialize scientific research achievements. Notably, 20 elderly-oriented products selected and recommended by it were included in the elderly care products promotion catalogue released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, ranking third nationwide. Besides, Shandong has also worked to pursue integrated development. A batch of projects integrating sports and health industries were implemented across the province to promote elderly health; 47 characteristic health towns were built; the first batch of 10 counties (cities and districts) with strong cultural tourism and healthcare industries were developed.

In the next five years, Shandong will strive to build an industrial cluster for elderly care that is worth more than 100 billion yuan and three industrial parks for elderly care with each worth more than 10 billion yuan and cultivate 10 leading enterprises for elderly care with each realizing an annual output value of more than 100 million yuan. Thus, Shandong aims to develop the brand of "Filial Piety in Qilu · Healthcare in Shandong."
