Inrecentyears,basedonmarinecharacteristics,Qingdaohascontinuouslystrengthenedtheindependentinnovationcapabilityofmarinescienceandtechnologybytakingtheopportunityofestablishinganationallaboratory,andhasalwaysbeeninaleadingpositioninChinaintermsofthescaleofinvestmentinmarineinnovation,thewayofinvestmentandthetransformationofachievements.Undertheleadershipoffocusingonresearchanddevelopmentandscientificandtechnologicalinnovation,the"blueeconomy"isgraduallybecomingoneoftheemergingindustrieswiththestrongestmomentuminQingdao.

Inordertocontinuetomaintainitsleadingedge,theMunicipalOceanDevelopmentBureautooktheleadinformulatingthe"15PoliciesforQingdaotoSupporttheHigh-qualityDevelopmentoftheMarineEconomy"notlongago,whichcanbedescribedastailor-madeandprecisesupport.Onthenewtrackofstrivingtocreatea"globaloceancentralcity",Qingdaoisreadytogo.

Asanationalmarinescienceandtechnologyinnovationcity,Qingdaohasaboutone-fifthoftheChina’smarine-relatedscientificresearchinstitutions(about30),andone-thirdoftheministerial-levelhigh-endmarine-relatedR&Dplatforms(over30).Full-timemarine-relatedacademiciansinQingdaoaccountforabout28%ofthoseofChina,rankingfirstinChinainallthreeindicators.
